How to Set Up THSCU101 with iPad
Introduction
As iPadOS is enhancing USB Type-C support, THSCU101 THEIA-CAM™ works in iPadOS 17!
In this page, you will see how easy it is to hook up the THSCU101 with an iPad.
What is Needed
THSCU101 THEIA-CAM™ and USB
THSCU101 is available at Digi-Key.
USB 3.0 Micro-B to Type-C cable. We tested and confirmed this cable works.
Note: The THSCU101 Kit includes a USB Micro-B to Type A Cable for connecting to PC.
Updating THSCU101 firmware before testing is highly recommended. For detailed process to check the current version and to replace with the latest version, follow the instruction.
iPad with USB Type-C Connector
According to Apple, Following models have Type-C Connector:
iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation or later)
iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation or later)
iPad Air (4th generation or later)
iPad mini (6th generation)
iPadOS 17
To use external camera, iPadOS 17 is needed.
As of July 26, 2023, iPadOS 17 Beta 4 is available.
Note: You need to sign up for Apple Developer Program to download Beta versions.
Get Started
1. Launch FaceTime
Tap FaceTime.
2. Connect THSCU101 to iPad
Using a USB 3.0 Micro-B to Type C USB cable, connect your THSCU101 to your iPad.
Note: If it stops working, you need to disconnect the camera, close the app, restart the app and then connect the camera again. The default image configuration, parameter setting will be used. You cannot change resolution etc. We expect more features when OS is updated.
